Jan Mei Chinese Takeout in Sunrise

Winnie no longer owns the place. The new owner is dope... Their prices are 3 times higher then what you see on their menu and they barely speak any English. I wish I could give them 0 stars, instead of 1 star... DON'T BUY ANYTHING HERE. IF YOU DO IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT....

She is the best. We have always ordered from her we even catered her for our wedding. Food so delicious and makes you want to try new dishes but always end up getting the same...lol

This WAS my go to chinese take out, as its the only place that doesnt make me ill. We called and Winnie didnt answer, received my delivery, was not Winnies husband. They got new plastic portion sized containers ( much smaller portions), something is different here, where is Winnie????

Great food and when u call to order the lady is super funny!

My family and I have been ordering here since I was in diapers. Always fast, honest, and good. Not to mention they treat everyone like family.

First time ordering and the service was phenomenal. As I waited I observed how the extremely amicable lady behind the counter interacted with patrons both in person and on the phone; I was amazed at how she knew many by name, remembered their past likes and even asked about family, haircuts, etc. She recapped my whole order by memory without writing it, best experience/service I've had or seen in a long time. Now to the food, phenomenal. The containers were overfilled with food, not even closed but rather food held in place by upward extended flaps and sealed by a clear plastic bag. Even though its a bit of a drive for me, I just became a regular. 😀

I’m sorry, but the food is not good. The fried rice was tasteless and the sweet and sour pork was very suspicious, not sure it was pork at all. The lady that answered the phone was super nice and let us in before 3pm on Sunday. But the food was not worth all the money.

After waiting a long time for a to go order, I received the wrong customer order. Took another 10 minutes to make my correct order. The food looked very old and dry. Food was very bland. The lady in the front was very rude. Will not be going to this restaurant again as it was a complete waste of time!

Love this place. AMAZING HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN AND LOMAIN. The employees are so welcoming and appreciative. This is my number one place to tKe care of my Asian craves... thank you so much!!!!!

We just found our new go to Chinese restaurant. The food was very, very good. The service was excellent. This is definitely a 5 star Chinese takeout!

Food had ZERO taste, Very bland. Worst beef taste ever; they cooked the taste out of it.Order was not packed properly it spilled and had a mess within my car. Was promised a free dish to taste and try. Not inside my order. You hear often “very busy no time to check or talk” Waste of money 💰

A very worthwhile place for good food and relaxation.

Very unhappy with the dishonest service I received. I ordered food and based on the total it should have been roughly 15$ but she told me 20$. I ask her why it was more and after staring at me for a while she said the menu is old (even though both the online and restaurant menus are the same prices). Clearly these prices were made up, the amount was exactly 20.00$ and she was caught off guard when I questioned the prices. The food was also very soggy and full of onions. I am ok with spending more if the prices are accurate but I felt taken advantage as she probably sensed I was not a regular. I would not recommend !

I can’t believe it!! They gave me 2 packets of duck sauce with 2 combination dinners and charged me for extra duck sauce!!! I will never go back! I have never been charged for duck sauce!! This is unbelievable!!! I feel like getting all my money back!

First let me point out that Winnie is no OLD lady! We having going here for years, food is always spot on. Large portions, love the Crab Rangoon and my husband is fan of the Hot and Sour Soup.Winnie is the best, when i call she already knows what I'm going to order, and always gets it right.... right down to the skinny crispy noodles.

The food was excellent but the service really set this shop apart from any other Chinese restaurant I have been in to. The owner was loving referred to as “Mama” by several customers who came in while our food was cooking. Mama made my teenage daughter laugh with her warm personality, and that’s a tall task with most teens. She was chatty with people in both English and Spanish and everyone leaves with a smile. This place is a true takeout/delivery spot. There are no tables or any other way to eat in unless you sit there with a fork in your takeout container.

They make the absolute best Chinese food I've ever had. I've been eating here for years and won't eat at another Chinese place when I'm in Sunrise. The quality is simply better than most Chinese restaurants and the owner is sweet and funny... But also to the point which I appreciate.

First time ordering from here and after being here for 10 months and trying out numerous Chinese restaurants, I have finally found a great place with freshly made food. I’m from NY and it’s hard to find really good Chinese food here. Delivery did take long but they told me an hour and they were at my door in an hour exactly. The food was fresh, nice and hot and everything tasted great. And the lady taking orders over the phone was very friendly. I have found my favorite Chinese food take out in South Florida.

After going to Jan Mei for some 20 years, Food quality and amount just isn’t the same without Winnie.

The decor is getting a bit shabby, but it's a "takeout" place. So you you wont wait long.The price is a little more than most but the quality is very good indeed.This is my favorite Chinese food anywhere in South Florida!And Winnie is wonderful.Update:Winnie sold Jan Mei.But from what I've seen, the very high quality remains.It still gets my vote as the areas BEST CHINESE FOOD.Enjoy your retirement Winnie.

Ordered on GrubHub. Never got my food. I tried to cancel after 90 minutes but it wouldn't let me. Now I have to call my credit card company.

Food has always been good. I've eaten jan mei's food since i was young and will always eat from her. Best food ever.

Great food. The best Chinese carry out in South Fl. Very friendly and fresh. The Egg Foo Young and Garlic Chicken are a couple of our favorites....but everything is good and we are picky eaters!

I have a lot of allergies and this is one of the few places I can pick up food from. The "enegertic old lady" is super nice and really helped accommodate me despite my numerous allergies. Every time I go there it's a pleasant experience, I would definitely recommend this place if your picking up some food on a Friday night; however, the only downside is that it's closed on Mondays. Other than that it's a fun and friendly place. It's one of my personal favorite's!!!!!

Wanted to order sat 3/30, but found out closed for week, so we ordered from SzcehuNn pandA, ul the street. No comparison, Jan Mei, is 100% superior

Ordered Shrimp Curry, was expecting it to be yellow and thick, was more like curried soup broth with peppers and shrimp. Wouldn’t classify this as a curry dish. Not horrible but not what you would expect for curry.

The Hot and Sour Soup is incredible, and the owner is hiiiilarious!

Been coming here for over 10 years and every time is like the first....soooo goooood!! Winni is amazing and only adds to the experience of great food.

New Owners. Food was Terrible.No more over charging. Winnie was known for rounding off. If bill was $11.65 she rounded off to $15., if bill was 26.30 she rounded off to $30.No one complained because the food was Excellent. Not Anymore.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in sunrise. You can’t find better.

I know to never enter this place again. While the lady was quite friendly, the food was not good, vegetable lo mein. The noodles we're stuck together, not cooked thoroughly, and I literally could count the vegetables, that's how few they were. I had take out, I really should have taken it back!

The food over here is horrible and not fresh at all. The kitchen is dirty which probably explains why the food is what it is. Very unsanitary and the orange chicken tasted very suspect and will definitely will not be coming back.

I don’t order Chinese food much but sometimes you just gotta. If you want Chinese food that taste like it was made in Chinatown in NYC, you should order from Jan Mei. Winnie is always so kind and talkative. She is a local celebrity with all of the greeting cards and photos from loyal customers. Go ahead and order, you will love it!

The service was so outstanding that I had to post a review! Pretty much a regular place, meaning that, I will be surprised if you don't bump into a regular customer when you visit. Not only does the young lady know people by first name, but her smile can warm even the toughest grouch. FOOD WAS PERFECT. I ordered the House Lo Mein, small. She kindly stuffed the container to the point that she had to put the container in a plastic bag, because the top could not close. love , love, love my experience at Jan Mei.

Ordered dinner from here with Doordash. I was extremely disappointed and will not order from here again. This is the first review I've posted to Google and I did so in hopes of keeping others from being as disappointed I was. Ordered orange chicken, general tso's chicken, eggrolls and a jumbo fried rice.The portions are VERY small for the amount paid. Over $17 for an entree item and it was a very small amount of food. The orange chicken and general tso's were bland and did not have any zing. These items tasted like frozen food section Chinese food. The rice was average and the best part of the meal. The eggrolls were not too bad.

Best Chinese take out in Sunrise! Until recently we were ordering from Szechuan Panda but after receiving rotten egg rolls on our most recent order we realized they’ve turned rotten since their change in management. We ordered General Tso tofu, lo mein, and wonton soup that was absolutely delicious. Soooo glad we found a new safe place for Chinese food.
